Little Redhead
About the performance
What happens to a toy when a child no longer needs it?
Inspired by Margarita Stāraste’s fairy tale “Little Redhead”, this performance tells the story of a toy that was once the most beautiful and best-loved of all, but gradually became worn, forgotten and tucked away in an attic. Can an old, broken toy that nobody wants anymore find a second life?
In the bustling world of a Christmas market, three elves – all toymakers – use objects, puppets and music to tell Little Redhead’s story, from her creation and playtime with children to being forgotten and finding an unexpected chance to return.
“Little Redhead” is a musical and visual story about the objects and toys that hold our memories, about second chances and the joy of discovering that something old and forgotten can be repaired and treasured anew.
