Latvia Puppet Theatre will visit Daugavpils.
On 15 and 16 August, Latvia Puppet Theatre will visit Daugavpils Theatre with the performances Lotte from Gadgetville, Doggo! and Mushrooms, inviting both residents of the region and visitors to the city to attend. Thanks to co-financing from Daugavpils City Municipality, the performances will be available at a symbolic ticket price!
Latvia Puppet Theatre’s guest performance cycle at Daugavpils Theatre will take place on 15 and 16 August. The programme will offer audiences three productions for children, young people and families. It will introduce Daugavpils audiences to Latvia Puppet Theatre’s latest productions, showcasing different forms of puppet and visual theatre, as well as diverse artistic approaches, while encouraging children’s and young people’s interest in professional performing arts.

Every Latvian knows that mushroom picking is a search for hidden treasure. But there are also those who love not only mushroom sauce with all their heart, but mushrooms themselves. They are the true mushroom pickers, forest shamans and wandering scientists, who search and study with such passion and enthusiasm that at times it seems they would like to become mushrooms themselves. If a “Mushroomvision” contest were held deep in the forest, what would the song of the chanterelle, fly agaric, boletus or mould sound like?

Gadgetville is a place where everyday life unfolds among buzzing machines and complicated experiments that do not always succeed on the first try. It is also home to little Lotte, who believes that every day can turn into a real adventure. Together with her friends and family, she experiences a summer in which judo is taught, electricity is invented and conquered, courage is put to the test, and everyone discovers how difficult it can sometimes be to say what matters most.

Sunāns is a city dog. He is used to walking his familiar routes several times a day, reading the messages left by other city dogs, greeting the neighbours, chasing pigeons and sniffing familiar smells. But one day his life is turned upside down when his owners decide to take him to the countryside, where, they say, there will be freedom, new friends and tasty bones. Yet when he arrives in the promised paradise, he discovers that everything there tastes and smells different, everyone speaks differently, and even friendships work differently.

The Latvian Puppet Theatre’s guest performances in Daugavpils are organised with the financial support of the Daugavpils City Municipality sub-programme “Support for the Implementation of Theatre, Culture and Art Events in the Administrative Territory of the Municipality”. As a result, audiences will be able to attend the performances at a reduced ticket price of EUR 3.00.
